    Tarek Amin    14/ 11/ 2007

The Ministry of Health closed down 1190 private medical institutes, including hospitals, clinics, specialized medical centers, physiotherapy centers, labs, x-ray centers, opticians and health clubs.

The central administration of private medical institutes headed by undersecretary Saad el-Maghrabi said the closure was due to numerous irregularities regarding infection safety measures and scientific standards, as well as doctor errors, such as forgetting towels or surgical tools in the stomachs of patients in addition to networking with some labs and x-ray centers to achieve profits at the expense of patients.
